ABOUT THIS WEBSITE
AKA OUR "SOCIAL HISTORY"
Why was UWSOM Dawgs Central created?
Throughout medical school, we have all received countless emails about sub-leases and car sales, links to various resources, and requests for clerkship trades. Wouldn't it be nice if all of these different messages and information lived in one place, so that way we could access them easily and also have an inbox that was maybe slightly less cluttered?

That's exactly what UWSOM Dawgs Central was created to be: A place where UW medical students can access shared student resources, to link up with other students throughout WWAMI, to learn from one another and hear about each other's experiences, and so much more.
The purpose of this website is multifaceted: to help bring together the 5 sites in one virtual location, to facilitate communication between students, and to be a place to share resources. It was born out of many pieces of feedback that included things like reducing email burden, improving connectivity between sites and years, and having one place in which the many different links and resources we receive via email can be accessible.
What features and resources are available on UWSOM Dawgs Central?
So many! We encourage you to explore the website in order to harness its full potential. But in short, this website is the home of elements such as:
1. A blog, where students can share advice about all things medical school, from how to ace Foundations courses and how best to use Anki to how to approach your third and fourth year clerkships or daunting exams like Step 1 and Step 2.
2. A forum, where students can post about things they are selling, sublets, pet sitting, etc. Inbox clutter from the aux listserve, begone!
3. Clerkship resources, including a page where all the clerkship trading spreadsheets will be posted; a page for honest, un-censored clerkship feedback from YOU the student - there will be a place both to give and read feedback; and a page where you can connect to fellow medical students who are out in WWAMI land with you during those often-grueling and sometimes-lonely MS3 and MS4 clerkships.
4. A chat function, so you can all connect with each other to your heart's content.
5. Shared student resources that you can access any time night or day.
6. And so much more!
Who runs UWSOM Dawgs Central and who has access to this site?
The website is created and hosted by the MSA Tech Committee, and is running thanks to UWSOM students such as yourselves. Most parts of this site are only accessible to UW medical students, through your unique UW email login. In order to gain access to these resources, you will have to be approved by the Tech Committee. The approval process essentially entails members of the committee verifying that you are in fact a medical student at UW (typically by using the student directory).
We promise that we will do our best to keep this site uncensored and with minimal oversight, as it is our goal for medical students to be able to authentically share their experience. In order to maintain the independence from the medical school administration, this site is being funded directly by the student body (thanks to the local MSAs!). With your continued support, this site can remain "created, hosted, and funded by medical students".

We hope the website will help you survive and thrive during your time at UWSOM, and feel connected to your larger medical student community. You, the medical student, are important and you will make a difference. Best wishes to you, fellow future doctor!
